Flower from the tree

Hi everyone
What will happen when I decide to keep the flower that I got from the tree? Will Ash eventually give it to Riley or will it simply stay in the pouch?

It’s been a while since I played Timecrest 1 but if I remember correctly Ash never got to give Riley the flower.
