Ash's gender is never specified because the developers want Ash to fit what ever person you think would be. The only thing I know to be confirmed is that Ash has violet eyes like Chronos/Luthor Timecrest.

The Developers also made several scenes that could be friendly or romantic depending on how you perceive Ash to be. For instance, Ash comments on AC's toned muscles. You could see that as a impressed friend commenting on the fitness of a teammate, or maybe as a crush as Ash admired his tone muscles up close. Gender is up to your interpretation of Ash and the world of Alyncia.
