There have been a lot of spam posts lately. We have banned any of these we see but we are also working on a more permanent solution for the problem.

Just take the positive thing : This forum is already famous that people spam in here.

How about make a delay time for new user before they can post something? 1 - 2 days?

I know this idea can't make them stop spamming here, but it can slow them down a bit - or better : they will choose another forum.

The recent spammer just made a new account and started spamming again. Could there be a way we could put limits to accounts-3 per email adress?

Is it possible? But I've seen big forum like growtopiagame.com/forums has delay 1 days or probably more for new account, and I've never seen spammer there.

I think they use cookies. Maybe if on one device an account got banned, they cannot make another one? It might be possible.

That will be awesome if it can be implemented, I was thinking about delay time to post a new one after posted a thread. Currently delay is 30 secs, I imagine if the dev change it to 1 hour 🤔.

People spam to annoy other people, but what if we take it in as a joke? If he sees his spam not working, he might stop.

I believe spammers not only try to annoy us, but to gain profit. We can take it as a joke, but the guest in this forum?

Spammers are looking to increase the Google PageRank of different URLs. Basically, if a lot of sites link to specific URLs, their rank on Google rises. Your ranking on Google is really important especially if you're a new business and trying to get new customers. If I'm some company trying to improve my ranking on Google I might pay a legitimate looking company saying they'll help out by reaching out to Google or somesuch. But what they'll actually do is spam your link on every forum on the internet.

We're working on some things to prevent the spam in a more automated way.

Maybe people could get an alert every time an account is made, so we can watch if that person spams, like how we would know if someone made a post.

I looked at the link (never clicked on it). It leads to a PDF file. I thought it needs to be a valid link if it's to earn through advertising.

I don't like the idea of waiting to post- I think it would deter more legitimate players than spammers. If anything, I would say to pause the post for moderation?

Or suggest that one person open it, tag the 3 mods, and no one else view it. Perhaps when our spamming friends see they're not getting anywhere, they'll give up.

Can a pdf lead to a virus? I never thought of that.

But I meant 1 person open the thread, not the link. At least these people are too stupid to name most of the threads something that is game-appropriate.

I didn't realize you could link more than 1 name per email account here. The problem is I personally keep several legit email accts. Personal email/proper name (resumes)/ dedicated to spam/ work. I can imagine that someone wanting to make accounts for spamming would add tons more.

Maybe there could be a spam bot? If someone was spamming, someone could tag the bot and the bot would ban the user from making a post, until a moderator looks into it. To avoid people misusing this, people could only tag the bot once they get the rank gold or higher.
